The Auxiliary Medical Service (AMS) is established under the Auxiliary Medical Service Ordinance as a corps of professional doctors and nurses together with trained volunteer members. Its main role is to augment the regular health/emergency services. The primary purpose of establishing the unit is to tap the manpower of the volunteers in tackling natural disasters and calamities in times of emergency.
